START WITH UNDERSTANDING

Make understanding part of your Quran routine.

Perhaps you read a translation but sometimes need more explanation. Perhaps you want to understand the surahs you recite in Salah, or return to Quran study after a long break. You can begin from that point.

Your teacher helps you work through a manageable passage, explains unfamiliar words and leaves room for discussion. As lessons progress, you begin to recognise themes, follow the flow of a surah and connect what you learn with your worship and conduct. There is no need to rush through pages. Some passages deserve a longer conversation.

01 / A REASON TO REFLECTSurah Ṣād
38:29
كِتَابٌ أَنزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَارَكٌ لِّيَدَّبَّرُوا آيَاتِهِ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُولُو الْأَلْبَابِ
Meaning: “This is a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, so that they may reflect upon its verses and people of understanding may take heed.” — Surah Ṣād 38:29. English meaning is a concise rendering, not a word-for-word quotation from a named translation.

THE DIFFERENCE

Translation opens the meaning.
Tafseer adds explanation.

01

Begin with the meaning

A translation conveys the meanings of the Quran in another language. It gives non-Arabic speakers an important starting point, although a translated sentence cannot carry every feature of the original Arabic.

02

Look deeper at the passage

Tafseer explains those meanings in greater depth. It considers the surrounding verses, relevant hadith, the Arabic language and the explanations preserved by scholars. Where reliable reports establish a particular occasion of revelation, these can also help clarify the passage.

03

Bring them together

In your lessons, translation and Tafseer work together. You first become familiar with what the passage says, then study the explanation needed to understand it more carefully.

CONCISE MEANING

A blessed Book revealed to the Prophet ﷺ

The verse begins by identifying the Quran as a blessed revelation. Before asking what we should do with its message, the passage directs our attention to the Book itself.

THE COURSE

What you will learn.

Ten connected areas of study, introduced at a level and pace suited to you.

01

The Meaning of the Passage

Work through a clear translation and the main message of the verses. Your teacher explains unfamiliar expressions and checks your understanding before moving into further detail.

02

Important Quranic Words

Explore selected Arabic words that help explain the passage. Vocabulary supports the lesson; you do not need to complete an Arabic course before beginning.

03

The Context of the Verses

Consider who is being addressed, what comes before and after the passage, and its place within the surah. Reliable occasions of revelation are discussed where available.

04

Connections Within the Quran

Learn how a subject introduced in one passage may be clarified or developed elsewhere, while keeping the meaning of each passage in view.

05

Relevant Hadith and Prophetic Guidance

Study how the teachings and practice of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ help explain the Quran. Relevant narrations are introduced with their sources and due care over reliability.

06

Belief and Worship

Explore passages concerning Allah’s oneness, revelation, prophethood, accountability and the Hereafter, alongside guidance about worship.

07

Quranic Accounts and Their Lessons

Study accounts of the Prophets and earlier communities with attention to the lessons the Quran emphasises, without filling gaps with unsupported stories.

08

Character and Relationships

Examine guidance concerning truthfulness, justice, mercy, family responsibilities, speech and treatment of others.

09

An Introduction to Quranic Rulings

Become familiar with selected passages about duties, permissions and prohibitions. Personal situations requiring a specific ruling are identified as such.

10

Reflection Grounded in Understanding

Learn to pause over a passage, identify its guidance and consider your response, while distinguishing personal reflection from authoritative interpretation.

ROOM FOR QUESTIONS

A teacher you can ask.

A live lesson lets you stop at the point where something becomes unclear. Ask why a translation uses a particular word, how a verse relates to its surrounding passage or whether something you heard elsewhere has a reliable basis.

Your teacher can return to the text, explain an unfamiliar term or revisit an earlier lesson. When a question needs further checking, it should receive a researched answer rather than a hurried response.

ON STUDYING THE QURAN TOGETHER

Meaning: “No people gather in one of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it together, except that tranquillity descends upon them, mercy covers them, the angels surround them, and Allah mentions them among those with Him.” — Excerpt from Sahih Muslim 2699a.The hadith specifically describes gathering in a house of Allah. It illustrates the virtue of studying the Quran together; it is not presented as a promise about an online lesson.

OUR TEACHING PRINCIPLE

A careful approach to explanation.

Our teaching follows Ahl al-Sunnah scholarship, drawing on recognised Tafseer works and relevant Quranic and hadith evidence. Lessons give attention to the Arabic wording, the context of the passage and established scholarly explanations. Where recognised interpretations differ, your teacher explains the relevant distinction at a level appropriate to the lesson.

The aim is to help you become a more informed reader of the Quran. This is a guided learning course, rather than a qualification to issue religious rulings or independently interpret the Quran.

WHO THIS IS FOR

Join from where you are.

  • Adults beginning Tafseer study: start without assuming previous study of Quranic sciences.
  • Learners who already read the Quran: develop understanding alongside recitation.
  • New Muslims: study selected passages with additional explanation of unfamiliar terms.
  • Teenagers ready for deeper discussion: lessons adapted to their maturity.
  • Sisters seeking a female tutor: request a female teacher, subject to availability.
  • Returning learners: resume Quran study with a manageable plan.

AS YOUR STUDY DEVELOPS

What progress can look like

As you continue, the goal is to become more confident in explaining the main meaning of the passages you have studied. Your teacher revisits earlier material through discussion and short reviews.

  • Summarise a studied passage without losing its central message.
  • Recognise important words from your lessons.
  • Explain why surrounding verses matter.
  • Distinguish translation, scholarly explanation and personal reflection.
  • Recall relevant connections between passages.
  • Identify practical guidance without unsupported conclusions.
  • Ask more focused questions when something is unclear.

Frequently asked questions.

Something else on your mind? Ask us when you arrange your trial.

Do I need to speak Arabic?

No. You can begin with explanations in English. Relevant Arabic words are introduced gradually.

Do I need to read the Quran fluently?

Advanced recitation is not required. Tell us your reading level so we can decide whether separate reading support would help.

Can I begin with Al-Fatihah and short surahs?

Yes. This is a practical starting point, particularly for understanding words recited in Salah.

Can I request a particular surah?

Yes. Mention your preferred surah when booking so we can discuss an appropriate plan.

Does the course cover the whole Quran?

An ongoing programme can be arranged. Studying the whole Quran requires a longer-term plan, with pace and depth agreed with your teacher.

How long does the course take?

It depends on the chosen material, lesson frequency and depth of explanation.
